Bob's B&B, "up the hill" from Manly.
Became friends with Bob upon my return from a trip to Europe. I'd obviously found that trip which included being back in the Netherlands, where I was born, quite enjoyable but also apparently stressful.
I was covered in hives and Bob suggested that the beach and plenty of sun might be the solution.
And so it was that I got to know Bob & Ron and started 'wearing a track' to Fairlight.
After Ron passed away, Bob very sensibly opened up his home as a B.&B..
I believe that, with his experience of being very well-travelled, he can look after guests very well indeed.

We too were on one of these!! Train with migrants to Bonegilla 1956
We left the harbour at dusk and our whole trip on the train was in the dark. Every so often we passed through railway stations where we saw some lights.
But it was also "Empire Night" and there were bonfires all along the track.
We climbed down after midnight to cross the paddocks and into the dining hall to be allocated our huts.
Great to see here what the train really looked like.
(I was 12. It was May 1956).
